FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
General system requirements (minimal):Windows PC ( XP / Vista / 7 ), 512 MB RAM, diskspace for each plugin (varying from 10MB to 150MB), VST/i compatible host (e.g. Cubase)
32 / 64 Bit
NOTE: Running HGF 32 Bit applications/plugins in a 64 Bit host might require a bridge-adapter/wrapper like JBridge
With a 64Bit OS (Win 7 / 64 or Vista 64 and a 32Bit host this is NOT neccessary.
When will there be 64Bit HGF plugins?
We are working hard on this but this will take time as we are aiming for a multiplatform 32/64 Bit solution supporting Win, Mac and probably later other platforms like iOS and Android too. This solution will basically work with optimized C++ code being compiled to dll, AU etc. So this will open a path for even more professional music tools i.e. plugins.
Several considerations led me to abandon the SynthEdit platform mostly because progress in development is too slow and lack of support for all the existing 32Bit modules to the 64Bit variant which will make it impossible to port older plugins to 64Bit. So there is a dead end in this way anyhow that time has come to make a real big change in order to be fit for and to respond faster to forthcoming changes and challenges.
Anyway I'm still grateful for having had a great time with SynthEdit in creating some real stunning and acknowledged plugins.
Loading patchbanks and sf2 is not found (also general hint to place additional sf2 files)
- make sure you have the sf2 file;
- an sf2 file's basic location (where the plugin will look first) is the subfolder where all sem/sep files of the plugin are stored - so you might put the sf2 file there;
- another solution might be to put a bunch of sf2 files to a special dedicated folder;
- then simply load the sf2 file/s into the resp. slots AND save the patchbank so this new location will be stored!
Error message when loading patches like 'parameters missing' - can be ignored. Simply load patchbank then save and this message will be gone.
Windows error report in host:
Can't load SE plugin: The specified module can't be found. e.g. File: C:Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins\AvatarST\Converters.sem
Solution: It has to do with User Account Control http://www.petri.co.il/disable-uac-in-windows-7.htm
Basically right-click the Host program exe file (e.g.Live.exe or Cubase.exe) and give the host program Administrative access.
